Patent Portfolio — Daniel Peirsman

A career written
in patents

Three decades of turning material and engineering ideas into protected, manufacturable technology — an inventor portfolio that spans recyclable packaging, draught dispensing, advanced polymers and lightweight composites.

140+US patent records (granted & pending)
50Granted US patents

A note on the numbers: each invention is typically filed as a worldwide patent family — the same idea protected across many countries (US, Europe, PCT/WO, and more) and across several publication stages. So the 140+ US records shown publicly (50 of them granted patents) represent dozens of distinct inventions that, counted across every jurisdiction, add up to several hundred patent documents worldwide.
The Journey

From a single bottle to a sustainable materials portfolio

A patent record reads like a career map. Daniel's runs from a foundational packaging breakthrough through the reinvention of draught dispensing, and on to the materials-and-sustainability work that defines his independent practice today.

2007 – 2010 · Origins (InBev)

The integrally blow-moulded bag-in-container

It begins with a foundational packaging family (priority 2007): a one-piece container with an inner bag that collapses as the product is dispensed, keeping liquid away from the propellant — engineered to be made in a single shot and, later, fully recyclable.

2011 – 2018 · AB InBev · Draught reinvented

Dispensing, cooling and the hardware of a perfect pour

As Director of Draught Development, Daniel builds a deep portfolio of dispensing appliances, keg connectors, flow-control and anti-drip valves, and integrated cooling — the engineering behind modern home and on-trade beer dispensing.

2016 – 2021 · Fresh-pour & concentrates

Shipping less water, pouring more freshness

A platform of pressurized beverage concentrates and on-demand preparation — combining concentrate with (carbonated) water at the point of serving, including producing carbonated beer from a beer concentrate.

2019 – 2023 · Materials & sustainability

Barrier polymers, composites and recyclable logistics

The focus shifts to materials: oxygen-scavenging barrier polymers, fibre-reinforced composite transport containers, recyclable thermoplastic crates and pallets, and thermoplastic-elastomer sealing systems — performance with a lighter footprint.

2025 · Still building

The latest grant — and the next chapter

The most recent granted patent (US 12,233,589) shows the packaging story still evolving. Today, through InnoReact, Daniel applies the same inventor's mindset independently — to a new multilayer elastomer-composite platform.

Innovation Domains

Eight threads running through the portfolio

The inventions cluster into clear technical themes. Each card links to representative granted patents and applications — public records you can read in full.

Recyclable bag-in-container & barrier packaging

One-piece, blow-moulded containers with a collapsing inner bag — engineered with same-material layers and interface vents so they perform, manufacture and recycle cleanly.

Draught dispensing hardware

The mechanics of a perfect pour: keg connectors, rotating-plug flow control, three-way venting valves and anti-drip pinch systems for home and on-trade dispensing.

Compact & portable dispensing + cooling

Self-contained countertop and roving dispensing units with integrated cooling — including disposable cooling cartridges and bi-material conductive cooling panels.

Pressurized concentrates & fresh-pour beverages

Concentrate packaged under pressure and reconstituted on demand with (carbonated) water — a platform that cuts logistics while keeping a freshly-made pour.

Active-barrier & high-performance polymers

Polymer formulations that scavenge oxygen and resist gas permeation — protecting flavour and shelf life, plus engineered heat-shrink polyester films.

Fibre-reinforced composite transport containers

Lightweight sandwich-laminate containers — foam core with fibre-reinforced skins — that cut transport weight and product breakage at fleet scale.

Recyclable thermoplastic crates & pallets

Rubber-toughened thermoplastic compositions for durable, recyclable logistics crates and pallets — a deliberate material substitution for greener distribution.

Sealing & closures for pressurised containers

Thermoplastic-elastomer (TPE) liners and resilient, self-sealing closures engineered to hold pressure and seal kegs and dispensing containers.

Flagship Inventions

Four that capture the range

Different decades, different disciplines — each a clear example of turning a technical insight into commercial and environmental value.

US 11890784

Same-material bag-in-container

The cornerstone family (2007 origin): making both bag and bottle from the same polymer in one preform solves the recyclability problem of multi-material dispense packaging — sustainability built into the structure itself.

US 11208314

Pressurized beverage concentrates

Packaging concentrate under pressure and reconstituting it on demand — including carbonated beer from concentrate — attacks the cost and carbon of shipping water, a strategic dispensing platform.

US 10968337

Oxygen-scavenging polymers

Active-barrier packaging materials that reduce oxygen and CO₂ permeation — extending shelf life and protecting flavour. A broadly applicable materials innovation well beyond a single product.

US 2022/0274732

Composite transport containers

Fibre-reinforced sandwich-laminate crates that cut transport weight and breakage across an entire fleet — directly lowering distribution cost and CO₂ footprint.

Beyond the Public Record

Not every innovation is published

Material substitution for Philip Morris International

Independent development work on the transition from cellulose-acetate to paper-based solutions — addressing sustainability and next-generation product requirements. Patents from this work have already been filed and will enter the public record once they are published.

Today: a new multilayer elastomer-composite platform

Through InnoReact, Daniel is developing high-quality semi-finished composite structures — built on advanced formulation, slot-die coating, lamination and controlled cure-state management — designed to drop into existing industrial production. The methods are protected; partnerships begin under NDA.
